Ophthalmology
The Ophthalmology team at Evergreen Surgical Center has recently expanded with a number of new and talented surgeons. Cataract surgery (removal of clouded lens and replacement with artificial lens calculated for the individual patient) is performed daily and has remained the main eye procedure at the surgery center.
Increasingly regular are the following types of other eye procedures:
- Blepharoplasty – eyelid surgery for drooping upper lid limiting vision; or tissue pulling on the lower lid
- Entropian Reconstruction – to repair the inward turning of eyelid which causes cornea irritation
- Levator Muscle Surgery – to repair a weak eyelid muscle
- Treatment of blocked lacrimal or tear duct with dilatation of the duct and sometimes with a tube to keep it open
- Chalazion or cyst removal – cyst(s) located on the eyelids which irritates the cornea
- Pterygium Excision – removal of growth tissue that extends from conjunctiva over the cornea which irritates the eye
- Eye Muscle Repair – to repair the alignment of the eye
